Applying a clipping mask in Photoshop
Learning Objective: A2.4 Use visual metaphors in creating an artistic product.
For this tutorial you'll need 9 pictures of patterns that you've taken. You can use the pictures from CSUN and/or pictures from the pattern shoot in class.
In Photoshop, open a photo of texture that is LANDSCAPE (horizontal)
Grab the text tool and choose a thick font
Type the Letter P
File<Place Embed any picture of texture that you shot
In the layer panel, select the top layer, hold down the shift button on the keyboard and hover between the P layer and pattern layer and press on your mouse pad
This will create a clipping mask and place the image into the letter P.
Click on the P layer and add a stroke (outline)
Repeat these steps for each letter in the word PATTERN with your images
Submit to Schoology under "Clipping Mask Exercise"
